Obituary of Ralph E. Perkins

Ralph Edward Perkins, 86, passed away September 23, 2013 at Albany Medical Center. Born February 4, 1927 in Cambridge, NY he was son of the late Harry and Maude (Robinson) Perkins. Ralph was a US Army Veteran of WWII. He retired in 1992 from the US Postal Service as a Postmaster. He had been a member of BPOE #2223, Rough & Ready, American Legion Post #515, Board of Elections, and a long time member of Centenary United Methodist Church. He was a crossing guard, wrote a sports column for the Greenwich Journal, volunteered at the lunch program and driving senior citizens to appointments, and was always generous helping others. He was an avid bowler, and was the only member to score a perfect 300 game at the Roe's Bowl. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Lori Bolduc; a grandson, Joseph Bolduc Jr., and 9 siblings. Survivors include his beloved wife, Ramona (Aldous) Perkins of Greenwich; his children, Vicki (John Chadwick) Perkins, Allen (Christine) Perkins, Kim Petteys, and Brian (Vicki) Perkins, all of Greenwich; 9 grandchildren, Kristin (Tim) Hable of Erin, NY, Natasha Perkins of Owing Mill, MD, Keith Batchelder of Derry, NH, Vicki Batchelder, Tara (Jim Ball) Bolduc, Kayleigh Walsh, Earl Walsh Jr., Jillian Perkins, and Casey Perkins, all of Greenwich;7 great grandchildren; 2 siblings, Burton Perkins and Jackie (John) Pfeiffer; sister-in-law Susan (Michael) Hughes; brother-in-law Clayton (Janet) Aldous; several nieces and nephews, and his best friend and devoted canine companion Zack. A funeral service will be held at 11am Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Greenwich. Burial will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville. Friends may call on Wednesday from4-7pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich. Memorials can be made in his memory to the Centenary United Methodist Church.
