Obituary of Warren Bill Buell

Warren W. “Bill” Buell, 75, of Ravena, New York passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side on February 18, 2022. May God rest his soul, for he is no longer in pain and may his memory be a blessing and comfort. Warren William Buell was born on January 13th,1947, at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, New York to the late Harold and Mona (Gravelle) Buell of Greenwich, New York. Bill was a Vietnam Veteran, serving his country proudly in the United States Army, from 1968 to 1970. During his deployment Bill was a tank driver who was highly decorated. He was awarded The Army of Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Bronze Service Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, and the Browning Automatic Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. Bill’s most distinguished award was the Bronze Star, which he earned for heroism in connection with ground operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. Bill was always an adventurer, and, in his lifetime, he studied and mastered numerous crafts. He was an avid rock and ice climber, skier, model aircraft builder and operator, competition black powder shooter, compass master, and kayak enthusiast. Bill loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and riding on a warm sunny summer day with a group of friends. He was employed as a Cell Technician, which allowed him to work and play, driving up and down ski mountains in extreme conditions. His most treasured adventures were building his log home and sharing it with his beloved canine companion, Miss Molly. This unique bond between Bill and Molly was steadfast for seventeen years. Bill was an adored grandfather, father, brother, uncle, great-uncle, and dear friend. His laugh was warm, loud, and enveloped those around him, just like his sparkling blue eyes. He loved to tell tales and told many stories to friends and family about his winter camping trips with his buddies to Newcomb in the Adirondacks. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon, and her husband Eric Arnzen of Vermont; granddaughters, Avery, Myla, and Finley Arnzen; siblings, Kathy Hanehan and her husband Cliff of New York; and Jeff Buell and his wife Maureen of New York. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and more family and friends. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 10am on Friday July 8, 2022, at the Hoosic Valley Community Church, 2024 NY-40 with Pastor Clyde McCaskill officiating.
