Obituary of Jack T. Baker

Jack T. Baker, 89, a resident of Col Baum Rd., died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Saratoga Hospital. Born November 7, 1923 in Linton, IN he was the son of the late George and Oneta Weimer Baker. Jack went to Linton High School and left in 1941 to join the Merchant Marines during WWII. He was honorably discharged August 15, 1945. He married Sylvia Tofte Baker in 1972 and they have resided in Greenwich since then. Jack studied Mechanical Engineering at Kings Point on Long Island, NY. He went on to become a Mechanical Engineer and worked for many companies over the years including Haagen Dazs Ice Cream, Bond Baking Company, and Millbrook Bread. He had his own business in Greenwich for several years, SEBCO Manufacturing and Universal Convection Corp. He then became involved in the paper industry designing equipment at Miller Mechanical in Glens Falls. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Joe and Robert Baker. Survivors include his wife Sylvia Baker of Greenwich; his children, Robert (Jane) Baker, Frances Baker, Catherine Murray, Cynthia Meyers, Christine (Ronald) Hinkel, Jason (Suzanne) Baker and Justin (Kyra Garrigue) Baker; grandchildren, Douglas Baker, Brandon (Melissa) Baker, Katherine Chambers, Michelle (Byron) Delsignore, Jennifer (Deshawn) Withers, Samantha Meyers, Gabriel (Emily) McKeighan, Michael Cristaldi, Zander Baker, Jack Baker, Aurelia Baker, Lola Garrigue, and Rona Baker-Garrigue; serveral great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; his brother David (Margaret) Baker, and sister, Marilynn Hamilton, of IN. Friends may call on Sunday, October 13, 2013 from 2-4pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St, Greenwich. A funeral service will follow at 4pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
