Charles Watson Jr.

Obituary of Charles R. Watson Jr.

Charles “Chuck" R Watson Jr., 75, went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Monday, July 11, 2022, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 9, 1947, in Troy, NY, to the late Charles Richmond Sr. and Mildred May (Robertson) Watson.

Chuck was devoted to God and his family and was always willing to help anyone in need.  His faith was evident in the way he carried himself. He loved his late wife Cherie DeCarlo Watson, and retired early to stay at home and care for her.

Chuck was a master woodworker creating everything from beds to furniture. When his grandchildren would visit, they would learn the art of wood working and take a treasure home with them. He was proud of his projects, and even prouder of his grandchildren’s work and accomplishments.

Chuck was a faithful member of the Hope United Methodist Church in Brunswick and was active in their men’s prayer group.  He was as humble as they come, often volunteering at Joseph’s house and Shelter, helping the less fortunate.   He graduated from Union College with a degree in Engineering and retired from Simmons Machine Tool in Menands.

When he wasn’t working or with family, he enjoyed attending Valley Cats and RPI Hockey games.  His yard and garden were meticulously maintained, and he took great pride in growing vegetables and sharing the fruits of his bounty with family and friends.

Chuck will be best known for being an amazing, selfless man, with a green thumb covered in sawdust.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Cherie DeCarlo Watson.

Survivors include his daughter, Stasia M. (Justin) Watson of Greenwich; a son, Andrew (Samantha) Watson of Cohoes; his granddaughters, Charlotte, Victoria, and Winnie; a grandson, Lincoln; sister and brothers in law, Carol (Joe) Gross, Rocky (Jaynne) DeCarlo, and Paul (Heidi) DeCarlo; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 4 pm on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at the Hope United Methodist Church, 566 Brunswick Road, Troy. with Pastor David Martin officiating.  A reception for family and friends will immediately follow his service at the church.

Donations in Chuck’s name may be made to The Joseph’s House and Shelter, 74 Ferry St, Troy, NY, 12180.
