Obituary of Edith A. Simpkins

Edith A. Simpkins, 72 , a longtime Greenwich resident died unexpectedly Monday, November 4, 2013 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Born March 6, 1941 in Yonkers, NY she was the daughter of the late William Spencer and Margaret Hardman Simpkins. Edith graduated with honors from Tuckahoe High School in Tuckahoe, NY and went on to Hunter College in New York. She worked in several departments at Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge for many years and later at Greenwich Family Health Center in Greenwich. She was a founding member and past President of the Cossayuna Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother William Simpkins Jr. and an infant daughter, Lynn Elizabeth Lacy. Survivors include her daughter, Laura (Jim) Robertson of Greenwich; son, William (Kathy) Lacy of Greenwich; grandchildren, Lacy (Kelly) Timmins and Hope Elizabeth Robertson; and great grandchildren, Avery Margaret Timmins and Westin James Timmins, all of Greenwich. A celebration of Edith's life will be held at a future date to be announced. Memorials can be made in her memory to the Greenwich Rescue Squad or ASPCA.
