Obituary of Thomas Pruiksma

Thomas Andrew Pruiksma born February 6, 1953, went home to the Lord unexpectedly December 4, 2013 at his residence in Greenwich, NY. Thomas was born in Wyckoff, NJ and the family moved to Easton, NY in 1967. He and his father worked to establish Basque Hill Farm on Beadle Hill Road. Tom graduated from Greenwich Central High School in 1971. He continued his education and graduated from University of Georgia with a degree in Agriculture Education. Thomas married his wife Sherry Virginia Boynton September 1976. Together they raised three children. Always having a great respect for the farming community, Tom provided welcoming wit and keen knowledge to his farmers and friends during his career in agriculture. Tom loved his family and especially loved his new role as "PopPop" to his grandson Oliver; he enjoyed Oliver's love for tractor rides, reading books, and singing together. Tom's passion for nature and God's creation continued to be fulfilled in his retirement, enjoying his time caring for his home, the property and Sherry's gardens. Tom was a man of faith and strongly believed in Jesus as his Lord and Redeemer. "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 Tom leaves behind his wife Sherry, two sons, Benjamin and David Pruiksma, his daughter Emily (Adam) Tomlinson and his grandson, Oliver Watson Tomlinson. Tom is also survived by a brother Jim (MaryAnn) Pruiksma; and his sisters Dell (Lee) Henrich, Janet (Mike) Ferry, Jamie (Evalt) Ayerdi, Susan (John) Berntson and Trish (Ross D'Elia) Pruiksma and many nieces and nephews. Tom is predeceased by his father James W. Pruiksma, mother Alice W. Pruiksma, and brother Robert Pruiksma. A Memorial service will be held Monday, December 9 at four in the afternoon at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Main Street in Greenwich, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich, NY 12834. Online remembrances can be made at www.flynnbrosinc.com "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house there are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going." John 14:1-4
