Obituary of Ruth Waite

Ruth McGrouty Waite, 88, a lifelong resident of Middle Falls, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Facility following a brief illness. Born June 30, 1925 in Greenwich, NY she was the daughter of the late Earl and Myra MacNeil McGrouty. Mrs. Waite was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a good cook and loved to bake. She also liked camping and traveling with her husband. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Alfred H. Waite in 2006; her siblings, Arlene Jeffords, Virginia Austin, Veronica Coon, Marilyn Langhoffer, Blanche Bain, Arnold McGrouty and Donald McGrouty; and her close friend and roommate at Pleasant Valley Nursing Facility, Pauline Ball. Survivors include her children, Alfred E. (Dale) Waite of Greenwich, Edward C. (Cynthia) Waite of Greenwich; Randy (Kathleen) Waite of Cambridge, and Deborah (William) Ives of Greenwich; grandchildren, Tammy Waite, Scott (Jen) Waite, Noelle (Brian) Nilsen, Brady (Keegan Perry) Waite, Jason (Angela) Waite, Jacqulyn (Derek) Donisthorpe, Joshua (Erin) Ives and Justin (Bethany) Ives; great grandchildren, Amanda, Kerri, Gabriel, Breona, Chloe, Cody, Noah, William and Maddy; great great grandchildren, Cole, Emma and Kaiden; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich. Burial will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-5pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made in her memory to Easton Greenwich Rescue Squad, PO Box 84, Greenwich, NY 12834.
