Obituary of Phyllis S. Pearson

Phyllis Snell Pearson was reunited with her husband, family, and friends, Tuesday, December 10, 2013. Phyllis was born August 25, 1926 in Easton, NY to Hazel Whitaker and Lewis P. Snell. She attended the one room schoolhouse in Easton Corners, Greenwich High School, and Ellis Hospital School of Nursing in Schenectady. She worked in Schenectady at GE until her marriage to Per Person in 1948. They worked at Fryer’s Chicken Hatchery until they purchased their farm on Willard Mountain and raised their five children. Phyllis served as Easton Deputy Town Clerk and took care of many people while working at Leonard Hospital in Troy, and later Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge. She was a member of the Greenwich, Cambridge, Salem and Schuylerville Seniors, and was an avid card player and enjoyed a good meal out as well as cooking for others. Survivors include her sister, Anita Sherin of Easton; her children, Gail (Vincent) McDonald of Virginia, Donald (Nancy Hastings) Pearson of Whitehall, Scott (Patti Gangloff) Pearson of Cambridge, Marilyn (Jon) Lundberg of South Carolina, and Helene (Daniel) Snowball of Hebron; 8 grandchildren, Shawn (Karen) McDonald, Kristin (Rob) Talmage, Donald and James Pearson, Zachery Lundberg, Lisa (Joseph) Kovacs, Terri and Meghan Snowball; 4 great grandchildren, Laura and Isabella Pearson, Kaleb St. Clare and Jack McDonald. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the Newman United Methodist Church, Shushan, NY with Rev. Waters, officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. Memorials can be made in her name to the Newman United Methodist Church, Corners of Main and Park St., Shushan, NY 12873 or the Easton Library, 1074 Route 40, Greenwich, NY 12834.
