Obituary of Ashley Herbert Snell

Ashley Herbert Snell, 81, a lifelong resident of Easton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at his home.

He was born July 15, 1942, in Easton, NY, to the late Harold and Lillian (Tefft) Snell.

Ashley was a hard worker his entire life, owning and operating an excavation company for many years.  He was always hands on and was a self-taught carpenter. He built two houses during his lifetime, the last being his beloved home, along the Battenkill river in Greenwich. Ashley served his country proudly in the United States Navy, honorably serving during the Cuban Missle Crisis.

In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and going to the casino.  Ashley loved his family more than anything, he was heartbroken after the loss of his wife Toni in 2018.  Together they both enjoyed taking drives, traveling by bus to Atlantic City, they were true soulmates. Ashley was a member of the Greenwich Elks Lodge #2223 and was instrumental in building its softball field.  He was also instrumental in starting the Elks fireworks show held at the ball field.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Ronald, Rodney and Glen Snell and sister, Betty Wilbur.

Survivors include his daughters Mary Ellen Snell Winchester and Ann Marie Snell Noyes; son Michael Rodney (Renee) Snell; grandchildren Lilly and Audrey Noyes, Lucas, Nathan and Tyler Winchester, Brendan Olivia, Madison, and Katie Snell; several nieces and nephews.
