Obituary of Fay Brooke Kalkowsky

Fay Brooke Kalkowsky, 90, a resident of Fort Hudson Nursing Home, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8, 2023.

Fay was born on October 15, 1932, in Freeport, NY, to the late Richard and Evelyn (Hubbs) McKenney.

Fay was born and raised on Long Island and married Charles Kalkowsky on April 20, 1952.  Fay and Charles were married 42 years when Charles passed away in 1994. In 1969 the young couple moved to Eagle Bridge, NY to raise their three children in the quiet and beauty of upstate New York.

Fay worked side by side with her husband on the small family farm immersing herself in country living and the love of her family.  Fay loved the outdoors and never missed a chance to plant another tree or buy another perennial.  She could always be found sitting on her porch, looking at her trees and listening to the birds with her dog and favorite cat not too far way.

Fay was an avid reader and couldn’t get enough of a good mystery.  She loved to cook and bake, never shying away from a new recipe.  Her classic “Oatmeal Scotchies” were her family’s favorite and the waffles for the grandkids will never be forgotten.  In her younger days, Fay loved to dance, the waltz and swing being two of her favorites.

Fay is predeceased by her husband, Charles, and her son, James.

Fay is survived by her loving children: John (Beth) Kalkowsky of Mohawk, Jacqueline (Michael) White of Greenwich; grandchildren, George and Geoff Kalkowsky, Katlyn (Erika) Thompson, Rory Robertson, Matthew White, and James, Jr., and Joshua Kalkowsky; great-grandchildren, Lily, Olivia, and Hayden.

Private graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 1:30 PM in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY, 12871.
