Obituary of Charlotte E. Meader

Charlotte E. Meader, 86, passed away Monday, October 16, 2023 after a long illness.

Born May 9, 1937 in Pawlet, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late William and Irene Jackson Gibbons.  She raised her siblings after the death of her mother, and then went on to raise 5 children of her own.

Charlotte was a proud professional chef and had worked at Wallie’s Restaurant in Greenwich and the Schuyler Prep School as well as other restaurants in the area.  She also worked for several years for NYS OPWDD in Wilton until it closed, and then in Cambridge until she retired.  She was a woman of faith, enjoyed reading, gambling, watching the Hallmark Channel, and especially cooking and entertaining for her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Meader Sr.; 2 daughters, Joyce Corsetti and Kathleen Whaley; and her siblings, William H. Gibbons Jr., Robert St. John Gibbons, and Dorothy Watson.

Survivors include her children, Barbara Donovan of Wilton; Robert (Dottie) Meader Jr. of Queensbury, and Terri (Brian) Wrisley of Schuylerville; siblings, Ruth Brundidge of Johnsonville, Charles Gibbons-Williams of Redmond, OR, Helen DeCota of Hartford, and Elizabeth “Ann” Danaher of Schuylerville; many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave. Ext., Schuylerville, NY 12871.  Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery, Quaker Springs.

Family and friends may call on Sunday from 1-3pm prior to the service.
