I’m so sorry to hear of Smokey’s passing. My late husband Frank and I attended his festivals for years. We loved his music and he always sang
“Smile for me, My Dianne” which still makes me smile. . The best times were sitting at our campsite- at any festival that he & Bob French were at - listening to them share old songs that we didn’t often hear when they were on stage. Smokey liked my sauce & meatballs - I made a special small pan of sauce with lots of garlic just for him and Don Stover. So many memories…lThose were the days..Rest in Peace, Smokey - thanks for all the great times and the memories. ❤️❤️❤️ Dianne Tattersall

Back in the early '90's, our friends, Art and Karen Patterson, invited us to attend our first Bluegrass Festival. Art said "Jim, there's a group there I think you'll really enjoy. Well, we went, and we fell in love with Smokey Greene and the Boys. For five years thereafter, we followed Smokey and the Boys around the northeast. They even ended up at our camp for a weekend to celebrate Art's birthday! That's the way Smokey was! He'd go out of his way to make someone smile or brighten their day. Not always the "big" headliner, but when the festival ended you'd hear people say "That Smokey....he was the best of the weekend". He was the best for seventy-some years. That voice, that old Martin flat top, the stories, that wit, and especially that warmth....that's what made Smokey the headliner at every show. Midge, Arlin, Scott, and Ethan our deepest condolences. Preacher Mike and I are so very sorry to hear of Smokey's passing. He added so much joy to our lives having watched him perform at Bluegrass festivals all over the northeast. Mike was so proud when he recorded his song: "How can I miss you, if you won't go away." I always LOVED the ending of the Basin festival where everyone stayed and made a circle holding hands while Smokey sang "God bless America". Smokey, you will be dearly missed.
