Obituary of Elizabeth Betty Temple Costello

Elizabeth "Betty" Temple Costello, 91, of Greenwich, NY, peacefully passed away on December 4, 2023, in Trenton, Florida. Betty was born on March 13, 1932, in Cambridge, NY, to Caroline Coy Powell and Theodore Powell of Greenwich, NY. She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands Earl Costello, Tony Altieri, and Roger L. Davidsen, as well as her mother, father, and Aunt Ethel Powell. She also was preceded in death by her special family sister Jackie, resident at Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Betty is survived by her brother Brock Powell, her son Chris (Georgiana) Davidsen, her grandson Christopher aka CJ Davidsen, granddaughter Tia (Tony) Demarco, her son Eric (Cathy) Davidsen, her daughter Susan (Judy) Hemingway; her special family members: Carl & Carmen Rogers of Chiefland, Florida, and her golfing best friend, Shirley Meggs of Ocala, Florida.

Betty's motto was to "live one day at a time" and "tomorrow is another day!" In the early years of her married life, Betty and her family resided on a farm, where they raised dairy cattle and horses. Later on, she became a snowbird, traveling between Greenwich, NY, and Florida. In her last few years, Betty resided at Ayers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Trenton, Florida. Throughout her life, Betty gracefully accepted the changes that came her way and remained humble until her soul departed, finding solace in the light of God.

Betty dedicated herself to the field of education and spent a significant part of her career as a Teacher at Greenwich Central School. She also served as a Teacher at WSWHE BOCES (F. Donald Myers Education Center) in Saratoga Springs, NY. Betty held a deep appreciation for the transformative power of education and its impact on young minds.

In her leisure time, Betty found great joy and relaxation in the sport of golfing. She was a member of the esteemed Chiefland Golf & Country Club in Chiefland, Florida.

Betty found solace in her faith and believed that her connection with God could be nurtured in nature and in her daily life, wherever she found herself.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all the caregivers at Ayers Rehabilitation, including Hospice, for their dedicated and compassionate care.

A special word of thanks goes to Joanne Buckles for her caring heart and unwavering friendship to Betty.

As per Betty's wishes, there will be no formal services held. She will be laid to rest in the tranquil Greenwich Cemetery, in the Powell Family plot, next to her beloved mother and father.

The Flynn Brothers Funeral Home in Greenwich, NY, is honored to be entrusted with her arrangements.

Please join us in solemn remembrance and prayer for the life of Elizabeth "Betty" Temple Costello. Her memory will forever remain cherished in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know and love her.
