Obituary of James S. Talmadge

James S. “Jim” Talmadge, 73, a lifelong resident of Greenwich, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness.

He was born October 10, 1950, in Cambridge, NY to the late Bradford K. and Frances (Spiezio) Talmadge.

James graduated from Greenwich Central School in 1970 where he played football.  He worked at Victory Specialty Packaging, and Cambridge Valley Machine.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman especially bullhead, trapper, and an allover outdoorsman. He enjoyed woodworking and was a lifetime member of Middle Falls Fire Department. He was rough around the edges, but loved babies, puppies, Christmas, jokes, and a well-cooked turkey dinner. He was an avid Giants and Dodgers fan, and he loved reading The Night Before Christmas to his nieces and nephews. Jim loved taking care of his beloved Grand pup Diesel.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Brent and Brad and sister Karen Ebbert.

Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Susan (Thivierge) Talmadge of Greenwich; daughter, Karen (Corinn) Talmadge of Texas; son James (Lynzi) Talmadge of Greenwich; brothers, Ray of Schuylerville, and Bob (Sherry) Talmadge of Greenwich; sister-in-law, Mary Talmadge of Cambridge; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends Denny Wood and Donny Gillis.

A funeral service will be held at 10am Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main Street, Greenwich. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Greenwich, NY.

A celebration of his life will follow the burial at the Middle Falls Fire House.
