Obituary of Marvin J. Hammond

Marvin J. Hammond, 71, a resident of Louden Road, passed Friday Jan. 10, 2014 at the Saratoga Hospital after a long illness surrounded by his family. Born Sept. 13, 1942 in Fort Miller, NY, he was the son of Arthur and Emily Barnes Hammond, Sr. Marvin attended Schuylerville Central School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired in 2008 after 35 years employment with the Fort Miller Company. He was a member of the Northeastern Country Western Entertainers Association and enjoyed fishing, boating and bonfires. When Marvin went fishing, he always caught the largest fish, or so he said. He was predeceased in addition to his parents, by 3 siblings, Alice Hammond, Arthur “Sonny” Hammond Jr., and Ramona “Monie” Greaves. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Janice Kelly Hammond of Saratoga Springs; a son, Scott Hammond (Kayla Benton) of Saratoga Springs; a daughter, Wendy (Rick) Sullivan of Cossayuna; 2 granddaughters, Laci (Roger) Moffitt and Rikki Sullivan; 1 great granddaughter Lily Moffitt; 1 sister, Fran (Bob) Squires of Greenwich; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Monday, January 13, 2014 at Flynn Bros., Inc Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville. A funeral service will be conducted at 11am Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Sandra Spaulding officiating. Spring interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Fort Miller, NY.
