Obituary of Edward G. Dietrich

Edward G. Dietrich, 77, a resident of North Broad St., died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Born December 6, 1936 in Margaretville, NY he was the son of the late Charles and Louise Dietrich. Mr. Dietrich was a graduate of Margaretville Central School where he excelled in basketball, baseball and football. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Ithaca College and his Master’s Degree from SUNY Oneonta. He served for six months with the Army Reserves. Mr. Dietrich taught Fourth Grade and PSEN Math at Schuylerville Central School for 30 years. He started the school wrestling program and coached that along with football. He was the Director of the Summer Recreation Program in Schuylerville for many years. He was a member of the NYS United Teachers Association and Old Saratoga Post #278 American Legion. He enjoyed playing bridge, poker and golf and was an avid Saratoga Harness Racing Fan. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara Scott Dietrich of Schuylerville; 1 daughter, Cindy (Wayne) Wanser of Milton, VT; 2 grandchildren, Chiara and Michael Wanser; and his beloved cats, Momma Kitty and Ivy. Friends may call on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 5-7pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville. Spring burial will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Schuylerville.
