Obituary of Marshall E. Gallup

Marshall E. Gallup, 90, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at his home. Born September 11, 1923 in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Harold and Julia (Bellamy) Gallup. He served his country during World War II as a Corporal in the U.S. Army and was a Purple Heart Recipient. He retired from International Paper Company after 37 years of dedicated service. Marshall was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Gansevoort. He had a lifelong love for gardening, carpentry, long walks and his dog Gracie. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Judy (Gallup) Moriarta; son-in-law David Moriarta; brother Orson Gallup; sister-in-law Beverly Gallup; sister Barbara (Gallup) Hillis and brother-in-law Harold Hillis. Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Ida (Cook) Gallup; daughter, Cindy (Gallup) Clum and her husband Tim Clum; son John Gallup and his wife Linda (Denison) Gallup; sister Bertha Zovistoski and her husband Frank; 2 granddaughters, Sarah Clum and Lindsay Clum; and several nieces and nephews. A committal service will be held in the spring at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville. Memorials can be made in his memory to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
