Obituary of Anita H. Sherin
Anita Sherin died Saturday, April 12, 2014 in Buffalo, NY after a short period of ill health. She was 90.
Born in Easton, NY, Anita graduated in 1940 from Greenwich High School with her future husband, the late William Thomas Sherin. She is also pre-deceased by her parents, Hazel Whitaker & Lewis Potter Snell, her sister Phyllis Snell Pearson, and her son Gary Edward Sherin.
She attended Bryant College in Providence, RI, worked for Judge Dewell in Greenwich NY, married Bill in 1946, and later worked for the Russell-Douglas law firm.
Anita attended St. Josephs Church, and was an active member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and the Easton Book Club.
Like her sister, she was a terrific homemaker and a superb pie crafter. She was also renown for her raspberry braid and coffee rings, baked regularly and distributed freely to friends and neighbors. She was an avid gardener too; her flowerbeds were the envy of all who saw them
Anita loved the country life, and living in the new home that she and Bill built on the southern slope of Willard Mountain in 1990, after moving from her childhood home in North Easton.
She spent her last 3 years in a Williamsville, NY care facility, close to her daughter Kathy, where she remained active and had loving support.
Anita is survived by her eldest son Richard (Janet), Rochester, NY; her daughter Kathleen (Robert McCabe), Buffalo, NY; her youngest son Thomas (Lesley DAngelo), Ft. Edward, NY; three grandchildren Lynn Ann, Jeffery, & Kyle; one great grandchild Liam, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday evening, April 17th, 6-8pm, at the Flynn Bros. Inc Funeral Home , 80 Main St., Greenwich.
A funeral service will be held Friday morning at 10:30 at the funeral home. Interment will follow immediately (12 noon) at the Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY. .
