Obituary of Elizabeth M. Seney
Elizabeth (Betty) Seney, 88, a resident of 41 Van Ness Avenue, passed into the arms of the Lord on April 24, 2014 after a long illness.
Born in Hoosick Falls, NY, February 22, 1926, Betty was the daughter of Irish immigrants Samuel and Letitia (Dinsmore) Gildea.
Betty was a graduate of Hoosick Falls High School Class of 1943. On November 30, 1946 she married Leonard V. Seney and resided in Greenwich, raising three children who survive her: Kathleen McLaughlin of Stittville, NY; Leonard (Susan) of Greenwich and Lawrence (Maria Dandeneau) of Latham.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Leonard V. Seney, brother, John (Jack), an infant daughter and both of her parents.
In addition to her children, Betty is survived by her brother William (Betty) of Lebanon Pa., six grandchildren; James McLaughlin, Steven Mclaughlin, Heidi Seney, Cyndi Seney, Derek Seney and Alisha Seney, four great grandchildren; Alex, Terra, Casey and Matthew McLaughlin and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
For 50 years, Betty was happily employed by the St. Joseph's Church of Greenwich until her retirement in 2012. Betty faithfully attended mass and enjoyed the friendships made through the church.
Betty requested that there be no calling hours. The family invites family and friends to a celebration of Betty's life at St. Joseph's Parish Hall in Greenwich after her interment at Notre Dame Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY on May, 2, 2014 at 1PM.
Betty's family would like to thank her caretakers, especially Jane Monroe, Julie Smith, Cyndi Seney for the excellent care and dignity they provided throughout her illness. A special thanks to Community Hospice and Mary's Haven of Saratoga Springs for their compassion, professionalism and guidance.
