Obituary of Philip C. Foster

Philip Crandall Foster, 88, a lifelong resident of Greenwich, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Born April 19, 1926 at Mary McClellan Hospital, he was the son of Martha (Crandall) and Lester Foster. Phil joined the Army Air Force during his junior year of high school and served for three years as a Bombardier in the 8th Division during WWII. He graduated from Greenwich Central School in 1947 after returning from the war. Phil married Audrey Tindale in 1950 and worked for Mobil Oil Co. for 24 years, retiring in 1981. He was a volunteer fireman and was active in the Centenary United Methodist Church. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Audrey Foster. He leaves behind his sons, Paul and his wife Lisa of Greenwich , and Scott of Barrington, NJ; his beloved grandchildren, Heather Watkins and her husband Shane, Sarah Foster and Chris Orihuela, Rebekah Foster and Brenan Kelley, and Sean Foster; 2 great grandsons, Brandon and Jacob Watkins; cousin, Tom Foster and his wife Katherine. A funeral service will be held at 11am Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Greenwich. Burial will follow in the Greenwich Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday morning from 9:30-11am prior to the service at the church. A special thank you to Nicole O'Leary and family, Greenwich Fire Dept. 1st Responders, Easton Greenwich Rescue Squad, and Hospice. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Phil can be made to the Greenwich Fire Dept. 1st Responders or the ALS foundation (in honor of his wife Audrey).
