Obituary of Caroline R. Falkenberg

Caroline R. Falkenberg, passed away Thursday, 22, 2014 at Glens Falls Hospital after a extended illness surrounded by her loving family, including her sons and their wives along with 10 grandchildren . Born in Greenwich, NY she was the daughter of William and Cora Springer. Caroline graduated from Greenwich High School in 1951, and was employed by the Stevens and Thompson Paper Mill in the accounting department. She later was employed by two different insurance agencies in Greenwich until she retired. . She married John Falkenberg May 2, 1954 at the Centenary Methodist Church in Greenwich and recently on May 2, 2014 celebrated there 60th anniversary together. She was a member of the Centenary Methodist Church most of her life. She served as a Sunday school teacher for 14 years, also serving as a trustee for many years. She was a member of the parsonage committee for 39 years and 32 years as the chairman, she was also a member of the Centenary Methodist Women for several years serving as secretary. She felt her church work was important and as long as she had her health, she would serve where and when needed. She was a past member of Ashlar Chapter No. 147 order of the Eastern Star. She served as matron and chaplain in the local group. She also served as District Deputy Grand Matron of the Saratoga-Warren District order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed her grandchildren for many years and was always ready to greet them at her home or theirs. She has a special love for animals especially her last animal, which she loved and enjoyed, her Welch Corgi "Scooter". It was a sad day for her when "Scooter" had to be put down due to health problems. She was especially happy with trips made on vacation with her children and later on with her husband. She loved to travel and made her last trips to Bermuda, and Hawaii and her last motor trip made was to Newark, OH, to visit her very good friend Mildred Evans who had moved there from Greenwich. She especially loved visiting several places where there were displays and gardens of flowers. She had a love for pretty flowers. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her siblings Edna and William. Surviving is her husband John Falkenberg of Greenwich, 2 sons David (Melissa) Falkenberg of Glennville, and Timothy (Barbara) Falkenberg of Saratoga Springs. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Nick, Cassandra, Lindsay, Amanda, and Holly, also 5 great grandchildren Treston, Tegan, Brennen, Bella, and Glenn. There will be no calling hours. The service will take place at The Centenary Methodist Church in Greenwich on Church St, Tuesday, May, 27, 2014 with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating at 2pm. There will be time to meet the family between 1 and 2 pm prior to the service. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the tower floor No. 5 and the intensive care unit at Glens Falls Hospital, for all their care and service they provided during her final days.
