Obituary of Julia P. Hanehan

Julia P. Hanehan, 85, passed away at her home, Sunday, June 29, 2014 surrounded by her family, after a short illness. Born March 13, 1929 in Troy, NY she was the daughter of the late Katherine (Carroll) Ryan and Frank J. Ryan. Julia was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy, NY. She worked for the NY Telephone Co. before her marriage, and then she moved to the family farm in Saratoga. She was a former member of the Saratoga Grange and the Saratoga County Farm Bureau where she had served as treasurer for a few years. She later returned to work for the State Dept. of Labor, the State Dept. of Commerce, and retired from Wilton Development Center in Wilton. She was a charter member of the Quaker Springs Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, and was a communicant of Notre Dame-Visitation Church in Schuylerville. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William J. Hanehan in 1995, after 45 years of marriage; 1 son, Richard Hanehan; 2 sisters, Agatha Maloney and Sr. Mary T. Ryan RSM; 2 brothers, John F. and Edward S. Ryan; and Uncle Tom Carroll. Survivors include her seven children, daughter, Eileen K. (Ron) Seelig; sons, Michael, William E. (Sally), Frank J. (Taryn), Brian J., Martin E. (Cathy), Patrick M. (Sherri); 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Notre Dame-Visitation Church in Schuylerville with Rev. Martin Fisher, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7pm Tuesday at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville.
