Obituary of Robert Brooks Sr.

Robert J. Brooks Sr., 56, a resident of Coveville Rd., passed away at his home on Saturday, September 20, 2014 surrounded by his family. Born March 2, 1958 in Saratoga Springs, NY he was the son of the late Ernest and Florence Toleman Brooks Sr. He and his wife Gail had just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on Friday, September 19, 2014. Robert was a US Army Veteran. He had been employed as a truck driver for several area black topping companies. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and his faithful dog companions, Harly and Dozer. He also liked riding motorcycles. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Paul Brooks Sr. and sister, Dale Brooks. Survivors include his wife Gail Filkins Brooks of Schuylerville; 3 sons, Robert Brooks Jr. (Elaine) of Hudson Falls, Jason Brooks of Schuylerville, and James Brooks (Hope) of Ballston Spa; 1 sister, Margaret Wood (Lester) of Hudson Falls; 2 brothers, Albert Brooks Sr. (Louise) of Georgia and Ernest Brooks Jr. (Tom) of Hudson Falls; 8 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville with Pastor John Hawkins, officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery, Quaker Springs. Friends may call on Wednesday from 1-2pm prior to the service. Memorials can be made to the family in his memory to help them with funeral expenses.
