Obituary of Jean A. McDonald

Jean A. McDonald, 72, resident of Cottage St, died Friday October 17, 2014 at Saratoga Hospital after a long illness with her family by her side. Born June 6, 1942 in Thompson, she was the daughter of Guy and Myrtle Harrington Duket. Jean had been a former employee of the Van Raalt Company in Saratoga Springs where she was a specialty seamstress. She retired from the Greenwich Central School where she was known by the kids as Grandma. She had also been the former owner of PJ Lanes in Greenwich. Jean was an auxiliary member of the Greenwich American Legion Post and past president and founding member of the Greenwich Fire Department Auxiliary. Jean loved her grandchildren. Her other enjoyments included gardening, baking and competing at the Washington County Fair, where she won many best of show awards. People loved her apple pies, cheesecakes and potato salad. Predeceased in addition to her parents are brothers Harry, Earl and Claude Duket. Survivors include her children; Lynn (Andrew) Jass of Wappingers Falls; Tammy (Lloyd) Thomas of Easton; and Dennis J. McDonald of Greenwich,2 children she thought of as her own Jess St John and Billie Joe Jordan; 2 sisters: Mary Redd and Shirley Powell and 1 brother: Jim Duket; Grandchildren Kaitlyn Marie Jass, Cody Lloyd Thomas, and Learan Kathleen Jass. A funeral service will be held at 1PM Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Flynn Bros,. Inc. 80 Main St, Greenwich, NY, 12834. Interment will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY Friends may call from 6-8 PM Monday, October 20, 2014 at the funeral home. Following interment services the family extends an invitation for everyone to join them at the Middle Falls Fire Department, RT 29 and 40, Middle Falls, NY, 12848.
