Obituary of Marie E. Burch

Marie E. Burch, 92, a resident of Burgoyne St., passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born August 4, 1922 in Northumberland, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Margaret Skelly Brown. Marie “Ree” had been a member of the Schuylerville School PTA, was financial secretary for the St. Anne’s Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of Americas #396, was a founding member and treasurer of the Friends of Saratoga Battlefield, and was a 85 year member of the choir at Notre Dame-Visitation Church where she also was organist for many years. She enjoyed camping, sewing, and playing the piano with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and bowling with her friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William Burch. Survivors include her siblings, Patricia (Bob) DeSio of Saratoga Springs, Geri Hemmer of Palmer, Alaska, and Richard Brown of Brandon, FL; her children, Ellen Varner, Kevin (Terry) Burch, Dennis (Linda) Burch, Gerard (Noreen) Burch, all of Schuylerville, and Teresa (Sharon) Burch of Lititz, PA; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am, Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Notre Dame-Visitation Church, Pearl St., Schuylerville with Rev. Martin Fisher, officiating. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville.
