Obituary of Richard J. McCormick

Richard J. McCormick, 77, a resident of Corliss Ave., passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born September 20, 1937 in Cambridge, NY he was the son of the late Martin and Blanche Currier McCormick. Richard received his Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Plattsburgh State College. He retired after 29 years of dedicated service to the students of Stillwater School District in 1992. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Greenwich and enjoyed gardening, tutoring, and horse racing. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, John and James McCormick and sisters, Catherine Saunders and Blanche Lewis. Survivors include 2 brothers, Martin (Helen) McCormick of Scotia and Joseph (Joan Tripp) McCormick of Easton; 1 sister, Mary Barrett of Albany; his best friend of 44 years, Bob Gustafson of Greenwich; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am Friday, October 31, 2014 at St. Joseph's Church, with Rev. Martin Fisher, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 4-7pm at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich.
