Obituary of Walter G. Stewart

Walter G. Stewart, 88, of Swayze Drive, Latham, formerly of Hill St., Greenwich, NY passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014 at St. Peter's Hospice in Albany, NY. He was born December 9, 1925 on the Nelson Pratt farm in Cossayuna, NY, the son of William J. and Clara Clough Stewart. He married Thelma Gardephe on June 1, 1951. Thelma passed away on January 10, 1978. Walt was a graduate of Greenwich High School. He was best known for the many businesses and residences that he serviced as a local electrician with his brother Ernie. He enjoyed taking care of his lawn and home in Greenwich and driving his Monte Carlo to Stewarts daily to pick up the Post Star and coffee. He was an avid NY Yankees fan. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his brothers Ernest J. Stewart (Ruth), Edward Stewart (Dorothy); his sisters, Irene Beane (Joseph), Charlotte Mac Ewan (Irving "Bud"). Shirley M. King ( Edward "Sonny"), Doris A. Blagg and Gloria M. Goodrich (John), Left to cherish his memories are his daughter Sandra Bourn (Herb) of Granville and his son Scott Stewart of Latham; sister Anna Mae Leary, brother Clifford A Stewart (Janet); sister in law Ruth Stewart; his grandchildren, Shannon Humphrey (Dan), Shawn Powell, Arron Powell (Jennifer), Jef Bourn (Mona), Terry Bourn, Greg Bourn(Sheri), Candi Landrum (Brandon), Tiffany Overfelt (David), Amber Stewart, John Stewart , seventeen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted 11am Monday, November 17, 2014 at Flynn Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich, NY with Rev. Sandra Spaulding, officiating. Graveside services will follow.
