Obituary of George Polchowski

George Polchowski, 82, a lifelong resident of Greenwich, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 with his loving family by his side. Born October 7, 1932 in Pinsk, Poland, he was the son of the late Michael and Eudokia Polchowski. In Poland, he served in the Polish Army. After his service, he moved in 1958 to the United States and lived for a decade in New Jersey where he met his wife and started their family. In 1968 they relocated to Greenwich where they settled. He was mostly known as the owner of G & S Transmission Service and Car Dealership. He was a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Greenwich. George above all was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all in the community. He enjoyed and truly loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Stephen Polchowski. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Susie Dziekonski Polchowski of Greenwich; 3 daughters, Jacqueline (Timothy) Loftin of Greenwich , Barbara(James) Gaus of Milton, FL, Christine (John) Dartt of Greenwich; 5 grandchildren, Michael, Eva and Benjamin Gaus, and Isabella and Madison Dartt. A private service will be held for the family. Spring burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Greenwich. Memorials in George's memory can be made to the Easton-Greenwich Rescue Squad, Box 84, Greenwich, NY, 12834 or to St. Joseph's Church, 35 Hill St, Greenwich, NY, 12834.
