Janet Burch

Obituary of Janet J. Burch

Janet J. Burch, 83, of Washington Street, was released from her earthly burdens on Friday, May 29, 2015 while visiting Mary's Haven in Saratoga. Born September 19, 1931 in White Creek, she was one of ten children to Melvin J. and Eliza E. (Colby) LeBarron. After attending Cambridge Union School, she married Ralph Hill and began raising a family. She also held several part time positions outside the home. Janet eventually retired from OA Borden & Sons after many years of dedicated service as a cashier and apple packer. When Ralph was stricken with cancer, she cared for him until he passed. Several years later she married William Burch. When her daughter Joan suffered with cancer, they cared for her until her passing. Not long after, Bill was stricken with cancer, and Janet cared for him. Two years ago, Janet herself was diagnosed with cancer. She fought courageously to live long enough to see her granddaughter get married, but it was not to be. Janet's life centered around her family. She enjoyed trips to Amish Country, Florida, and Walt Disney World, as well as following country roads to see where they came out. She was predeceased by her husbands, Ralph and Bill, her daughter Joan, siblings Jay LeBarron Jr., Ralph LeBarron, Edith Hunt, Bessie Hill, Florence Baker, Daniel LeBarron and Loren LeBarron. Left to treasure her memories are her son Donald (Laurie) of Glens Falls, son Ronald (Diane) of Easton; granddaughter Victoria Hill and her fiancée Gavin Seabury of Glens Falls; sisters Sue DeMarsico of North Bennington, VT and Olive Chesbro of Cambridge, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. At her request, there will be no calling hours. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. All are welcome to attend a memorial service to be held Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the Greenwich Elks Lodge.
