Obituary of Ruth Florence Stewart

Ruth Florence (McKinney) Stewart, 91, a lifelong resident of Greenwich passed away peacefully Saturday January 2, 2016 at Wesley Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family. Born March, 25, 1924 in Hudson Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Ida (Brayman) McKinney. Ruth was a 40 year member of the Easton-Greenwich Rescue Squad, where she was an EMT and instructed First Aid and CPR. Ruth was a member of the Eastern Star, VFW and American Legion Auxiliary, and was very active in the Bottskill Baptist Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and singing. Ruth loved taking trips, especially traveling through the Amish country. Ruth's greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Ernest James Stewart in 2003; as well as her sisters, Ola, Marion, Mable and Jane; and brothers, James and John. Ruth is survived by her son, John (Darcie) Stewart of Saratoga Springs; daughters, Eileen R. (Rusty) DiNisio of Greenwich; Nancy Stewart (Jean) of Saratoga Springs; Janice (Kevin) Hotaling of Ballston Spa, and Mary Ann (Andrew) Wright of Easton, NY; 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Friends and family may call from 5-7 pm on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Flynn Bros Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St, Greenwich, NY, 12834. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, with Rev. Sandra Spaulding, officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. Donations in Ruth's name may be made to the Easton-Greenwich Rescue Squad, P.O.
