Adam Shostak

Obituary of Adam Shostak

Adam Shostak, 88, a resident of West Hebron, passed away suddenly Monday, February 22, 2016 after a long illness. He was born in Bayonne, N.J. on May 21, 1927 and graduated from the local high school there. He then went on to Lawrence Tech to earn a degree in Aerospace Structural Engineering. Adam was something of a mover and shaker and became involved in "the race for space". He worked at Fairchild Space Industries for 40 years, but spent much of his time at Goddard Space Center and John Hopkins University's Applied Physics Lab. Adam loved to talk about the many projects in which he had been involved such as satellite and airplanes. One airplane was the North American X B-70 Valkyrie. After retirement he moved his wife Margaret up north to be closer to her family. Here he shifted to be more "down to earth" with concerns such as remodeling a couple old houses, moving rocks and bush hogging. He was funny and loved to dance. He was a member of the Order of Masons in Rockville, MD and attended the Fort Miller Reformed Church here in N.Y. Adam was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Shostak, and two brothers, Alex and Walter Shostak. Survivors include his wife of 35 years Margaret Shostak of Hebron; step children Joyce Kuba and Edward Kuba; two sons of his own Addison and Bruce Shostak; two daughters Belinda Byrd and Patricia Benton; several nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Adam was cremated Wednesday, March 24, 2016 and there will be a memorial service and reception at the Fort Miller Reformed Church Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 1 pm.
