Obituary of Loretta Baker

Loretta Austin Baker passed on peacefully, Friday, July 2, 2010 at Glens Falls Hospital. Born January 10, 1925 in Bennington, VT, she was the daughter of Roscoe and Hanna (Guiden) Austin. Loretta was a graduate of Walter A. Wood Memorial High School in Hoosick Falls and St. Joseph’s Business College in Bennington. She was employed for a number of years as a secretary at Greenwich Central School. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Harvey E. Baker, who passed away June 2, 2003, and her brothers, John, William, Robert and James Austin. Survivors include three beloved sons, David (Marilynn), and Daniel (Elaine) of Pasco, WA. and Gary (Deborah) of Long Lake; seven granddaughters; Rebecca (Raymond) Brown of Greenfield, Alicia (Patrick) Farrell of Lake Clear, Melinda (Christopher) Burkhardt of Warrensburg, Cara Baker (Eric) of Cassville, Nancy, Gretchen and Callee Baker of Warrensburg; Four grandsons, Chad and Seth Baker of Long Lake, Jed Baker of Warrensburg and David W. Baker of Denver, CO; a special Goddaughter Mary Austin Williams (David) of Delmar; two step-granddaughters, Sara Beth Keough (Scott) of Saginaw MI. and Wynde Kate Reese (Matthew) of Lake Placid; nine great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Quinn, Dr. Stoutenburg, Dr. D’Agostino, Dr. Coombes and the Nurses on T2 and 3 at Glens Falls Hospital. A Funeral service will be held at 11AM Thursday, July 8, at Flynn Bros., Inc. Funeral Home, 80 Main St., Greenwich, NY, with Rev. Martin Fisher, officiating. Interment will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 10AM until the time of the service on Thursday.
