Obituary of Harrison E. Miner
Harrison E. Miner, 78, a resident of Route 29, Schuylerville, passed away early Saturday morning at the Saratoga Hospital after a long illness. Born December 12, 1931 in Corinth, he was the son of Horace and Elizabeth Perkins Miner Sr. He was a graduate of Corinth High School. Harrison was a veteran of the Korean War and a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineer Local # 106 in Albany. He was a charter member of the General Schuyler Emergency Squad and served as a director of their first Board of Directors. He was a former assistant Cub Master. He was a communicant of Notre Dame-Visitation Church in Schuylerville. His hobbies included hunting, NASCAR, wrestling, and making macramé chairs. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 2 brothers Harold and Horace Miner, and 3 sisters, Virginia Monroe, Hilda Shaw, and Janet Monroe. Survivors include his wife, Lois Cromie Miner of Schuylerville: his children, Jan Marie Holland of Paducah, KY, Keith Harrison Miner and his wife Lori of Saugerties, and Judi Arlene Merchant and her husband James of Gansevoort; 1 brother, Eugene Miner of Corinth; 9 grandchildren, Michael, Gary, Scott and Eva Homer, Cassandra Saunders, Jonathan and Jason Merchant, Victoria Rose and Timothy Miner; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 am Tuesday, July 13 at Notre Dame-Visitation Church with the Rev. Martin Fisher officiating. The Rite of committal will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
