I didn't see Lee often because we taught in different Hudson Falls schools, but whenever the English Department got together it was great to see Lee and the other middle school cohorts. He always had a smile on his face and I can still hear his distinctive laugh. He clearly enjoyed life and his wit, skills, and personality certainly had a wonderful effect on both colleagues and students. I'm so sorry he was taken from his family and friends too soon. Our sincerest condolences, Sue and Dan D'Angelico

I taught with Lee Cormie at the HFJr High School and my daughters both had him as a teacher . He always had a kind smile and great sense of humor and fun for life and it came across easily and made others , both students and friends, comfortable
Sending our condolences to his family . May God Bless You with beautiful memories of a life spent well . Kathleen Brown

Compared to Kath, who I've known since 2nd grade, and Sarah, who's my third daughter, I knew Lee a relatively short time. But in that time I learned we had a lot in common: both of us attended Oneonta State, both were English teachers, both had senses of humor that could be called dry. But mostly we fiercely love our families and friends. May that fierce love get you through the pain and on to only happy memories.
Love, Rita and John

To the wonderful family of Lee,
Although our paths seldom crossed during much of our adulthood, I will always cherish school day memories we shared. Lee was a great guy, who was always ready to lend a hand, or have a good laugh. It's my hope that you find peace & comfort during this most difficult time.

I am so sorry to read about Mr. Cormie's death. He was one of the three English teachers that confirmed my lifelong wish to become an Elementary Teacher and possibly teach English or write children's books! He had a light in his eyes that was so bright and convincing to each and every student, regardless of abilities, that they were worth every minute of his time. He was a legend to me and I know he will be greatly missed by family and friends. Gone too soon Mr. Cormie! God speed and watch over us.
Sincerely,
Rosemary Sullivan Pacific

I didn’t have Mr. Cormie as a teacher, but I did have his wife at Sanford Street School for the 4th grade. I think 2003-2004? I always remember her speaking so fondly of her husband and their two girls. My condolences to Mrs. Cormie and their daughters. May you find comfort in family and friends during this time

I remember when I first met Lee I had only been in the area about 6 months. As an avid skeet shooter I found my way to Hudson Falls Fish and Game Club. Lee greeted me and immediately made me feel welcome. That was one Sunday morning in the spring of 2006. Since then there haven't been many Sundays I haven't spent there with Lee and all the other "Regulars". I will miss him terribly. His quick wit, his sense of humor and his laugh. His passing leaves a hole in our hearts that wont be filled. My prayers go out to his entire family. God Speed Lee, Rest Well and I will see you on the other side.

Mr. Cormie was my English teacher in 1986-1987. I was just recalling some stories about him with my family two weeks ago.He stood out as an intellectual with a whit that paralleled Mr. George Carlin. Learning from him was a pleasure as he always had me in stitches. I am so sorry for his family's loss and send my warmest thoughts for their comfort and healing

Mr. Cormie was my teacher 1994-1995. I always remember him encouraging us to find and express our individuality. He touched many lives over the years and in ways that can’t even be quantified. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. My deepest condolences go out to all his friends and family.

Mr. Cormie was my 7th grade english teacher from 1990-1991. He was by far my favorite English teacher ever. His love for teaching and his students was always apparent. He made learning fun. He also introduced me to my favorite book, “Where the Red Fern Grows.” A book I have read numerous times in my adult life.
My family also had a “camp” in Newcomb where Mr. Cormie had his. I always enjoyed seeing him outside the classroom where his love for the outdoors and woods always showed. I am so sad to hear of his passing. I pray for peace and comfort for his family and all of those who loved him dearly. I know he left me with some wonderful memories that I will personally cherish always.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Kimberly Walsh

Our condolences to Lee's family and friends. My husband and I knew his sister, Vickie Healy, very well as I worked with her at Saratoga Hospital for a number of years. She loved to talk about her family and was close to all. May you be comforted by the knowledge that others understand your pain. God bless you all.
