Elsie Henderson

Obituary of Elsie R. Henderson

Elsie R. (Coffin) Henderson, 91, passed away peacefully at her home on June 1, 2016. Born September 14, 1924 in Saratoga, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ruth (Dickinson) and Adelbert Coffin. Elsie led a humble, proud, and hardworking life as a farmer. She was a strong and determined woman who loved her family dearly. She was never idle, always looking to do for others. As a young girl, she began farming with her parents and siblings, selling goats and peddling eggs. She was a proud graduate of the Schuylerville Central School District. She enjoyed sharing fond memories of these early days. Her entire adult life was spent caring for her cows and family on her dairy farm in Easton. Up at 3:30 every morning, she was off on her “green machine” to get her cows in and her calves fed. She had fun travelling in her younger years, but Elsie found most of her joy and happiness at home on the farm. She loved sharing laughs and stories at her kitchen table over coffee, especially with her daughter-in-law and dearest friend, Dael Henderson. She cherished her many visits from beloved friends and family throughout the years. When work was no longer possible, time spent with friends and family meant the most. She also looked forward to seeing her goats, birds, and cats each day, and to her evening car rides. She enjoyed doing puzzles, reading the daily newspapers, and watching her favorite television shows. In addition to her parents, Elsie was predeceased by her son Robert Henderson (2005), and her siblings, Raymond Coffin, Mildred Dixson, Joe Coffin, and Julie Perry. Elsie is survived by her sons, Alan “Mister” Henderson and his wife Joni, and Taylor “Squirt” Henderson and his wife Susan; her daughter-in-law, Dael Henderson of Easton; her former husband, Taylor S. Henderson, of Easton; loving grandchildren Rob and Simmons Henderson, Brady Moy, Ali and Chelsie Henderson, Nicholas Henderson, and his wife Abby, Logan, Britney, and Marcus Henderson; great-grandchildren: Spencer Conlin, Erin Tiderencel and Dillon Henderson, Jobe Jennings, and Natalie Henderson; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends whom she adored. Heartfelt thanks goes to Sandy Borden, who had a very special friendship with Elsie and kept her laughing.
